The Seekers

Humans have always been seekers; we quest for answers from the Divine to personal and planetary outcomes.

Divination means to be inspired by God or to be moved by the breath of God. Diviners or oracles ascertain interpretations of the inspirations of God using symbolic language that communicates with the unconscious. Divination is the practice of interpreting esoteric wisdom.

Divination was common in many civilizations of antiquity. One of the earliest traditions and one of the most prominently known divining practices comes from the Goddess oracles of the Hellenic culture, particularly the Oracle of Delphi. Delphi, Greece’s most famous oracle worshiped the mother represented by Delphini, the womb of creation.

Historically noted we have consulted with oracles, diviners, magi and tribal seers. Many diviners have accessed sacred knowledge and provided guidance using powerful divination tools such as bones, stones, Runes, crystals and various forms of pictographic cards.

Divination using pictographic cards originated in the East and offered insights into ancient tradition of religion. Eastern mystics taught initiates the meanings of religious mysteries through international symbolic codes revealed in the cards.

Reading cards is known as cartomancy. Cartomancy, utilizing tarot cards is still practiced today for divination. Cartomancers, commonly called readers, revere the cards they use and affirm that the cards they use never be touched by anyone other than their owner.

Gaining mastery over ones future was often achieved by tribal people consulting with the seer of the tribe who often divined by casting bones. Insight into ones life is revealed by casting animal bones; each one assigned a specific meaning. As the bones are cast they fall into a configuration which the diviner then interprets.

In some parts of Southern Africa it is a sub-cultural norm to use bone divination as a medical diagnostic procedure.

Another divinatory system with origins rooted back to the Vikings is the Runes. According to lore, Runes, from the Gothic runa means mystery, are symbolic markings or glyphs carved in stones. According to tradition Rune casters usually women were employed by Viking warriors to divine conquest or defeat when they were engaged in battle.

Diviners or oracles apply their knowledge of symbolic sight to reveal potent information about possibilities or probabilities of future situations or to reflect consciousness from the visible and invisible worlds that enlighten the path of our spiritual evolution. This type of right brain intuitive communication is developing at a quickening pace today.

Modern day oracles are known as psychics, medical intuitives, forecasters and futurists. Contemporary technology meets the ancient prophecy of the Divine using computer codes. Decoders interpret encrypted prophetic messages know today as the Bible Code or Torah Code. The study of the Bible code has been popularized by Michael Drosnin’s book “The Bible Code”. Drosnin’s theory is that the bible is not only a book but a computer program that when deciphered predicts future events.

Issac Newton was an early seeker of encryptions of the Divine. He believed that the universe is a cryptogram set by the almighty.

Whether today or three thousand years ago our strong desire to consult with the eternal medium of divinatory symbols and systems to commune with creation and reveal and interpret the workings of Creator is our basic need to understand ourselves and our human condition. Humans are Seekers progressing on the evolutionary ladder of the Divine.
